The Eastern Region has the
beautiful Sun Temple in Orissa, designed as a massive stone chariot on
twenty four exquisitely carved wheels and drawn by seven straining
horses(now a World Heritage Monuments); the beautiful mountain State,
Sikkim.
The ancient kingdom of Kalinga, lies on the North Eastern

status of a full-fledged state on January 21,1972.

The Mizos belonging to the Mongoloid race, are original
settlers of the Shan State of Burma. Two of the tribes, the Lushai and
Himar, migrated to India and occupied the Lushai hills. Mizoram was annexed
in 1891 by the British as Lushai Hill district, and made a part of Assam.
Nagaland is blessed with salubrious climate throughout the year
