Museums in Bangalore
In the Museums in Bangalore a lot
of painting section includes miniature paintings from the Rajasthani and
Pahari schools. There are also traditional glass and other paintings from
the Mysore school. Among the miscellaneous items are ivory carvings and
inlay work and sandalwood caskets.
Karnataka Government
Museum And Venkatappa Art Gallery : Established in 1865, the museum
houses sculptures from the Hoysala, Gandhara, etc. periods. Also on view are
antiquities from Mohenjodaro and terracotta from Mathura. The painting
section includes miniature paintings from the Rajasthani and Pahari schools.
There are also traditional glass and other paintings from the Mysore school.
Among the miscellaneous items are ivory carvings and inlay work, sandalwood
caskets and other objects and arms and armoury.
Janapada
Loka : Janapada Loka is a treasure-trove of Karnataka's folk heritage.
The 15-acre complex houses museums, an open-air theatre, a studio and other
structures. The museum, drawn from the life and arts of a large number of
tribal and rural folk across Karnataka, has an amazing collection of 5000
artefacts that represent the essence of Karnataka's folk culture. The
display includes an array of agricultural hunting and fishing implements,
weapons, ingenious household gadgets, masks, dolls and shadow puppets.
Timings: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Closed on Tuesdays.
